Noor Shirazie

the instinct to destroy punishes you.

you rage through cities and forests alike,
afraid that your environment
will not be as harsh as the hell
they told you to expect.

they were wrong.

allow yourself to touch the skin of another
without flinching in anticipation.
train yourself to whisper before screaming.
it is less painful to tread water lightly
than it is to smash your first through its surface.

PS: Shes one of my favorite poets!
